Strength in your story, power in our community.
Identity Foward
Identity Forward exists to help young people see themselves clearly and move through the world with confidence, agency, and a sense of belonging. Built on the truth that when youth feel seen, valued, and honored, they rise. We create identity‑centered, liberatory, and trauma‑informed learning experiences and empowerment products that help youth trust their voice and step into their full potential. Everything we design is rooted in intention, dignity, and the belief that young people already hold the power they need. There is strength in their story and power in our community. Together, we rise.
Creating What I Needed
My name is Felicia Hernandez, and I am the Founder of Identity Forward. After years of serving youth and families across education, prevention, criminal justice, and social services, I saw how deeply our environments shape the way we see ourselves and how often systems work against the growth of our communities. I watched young people carry brilliance, resilience, and stories of identity that were overlooked or misunderstood. At the same time, I found myself constantly having to explain why this work mattered and why our communities deserved better. It was exhausting to keep asking for a seat at tables that were never built with youth, community, or liberation in mind.
So I stopped asking. I created my own table. A place where young people never have to prove their worth because it is recognized the moment they walk in. I design identity-centered, liberatory, and trauma-informed learning experiences that give youth the space to name their reality, understand who they are, and recognize the power they already hold. Through intentional curriculum, facilitation, training, and handmade empowerment products, I create spaces that affirm their brilliance and support them as they rise into their full potential. Identity Forward is my way of reparenting my inner child, refusing to abandon myself as an adult, and offering the same healing, dignity, and possibility to every young person I see myself in.

What sets us apart?
Humanization First
Humanization is the foundation of Identity Forward. We believe youth are whole and carry wisdom, strength, and possibility. We honor their dignity, their lived experiences, and the cultural and communal knowledge they bring. We walk with young people, building relationships rooted in trust, co‑creation, and belonging. We create spaces where their identity is affirmed, their voice is valued, and their inner power is recognized and nurtured. When youth are seen as fully human, they rise, and our communities rise with them.
How We Bring the Work to Life
At the heart of Identity Forward is Built to Rise, a trauma-informed, culturally grounded, liberatory learning framework that supports youth identity development, emotional awareness, agency, and relational skill-building. This framework is more than a set of lessons; it is a way of seeing, honoring, and walking with young people.
Built to Rise comes to life through four core offerings that help schools, organizations, and communities create spaces where youth are seen, valued, and supported in rising to their full potential. Two offerings are currently active, with additional programs launching as we continue to grow and pilot the full Built to Rise experience.

Empowerment Products
Handmade, intentional tools that remind young people of their strength, identity, and belonging. Each item is carefully crafted with cultural grounding, identity, and purpose, reinforcing the messages youth experience in our curriculum and facilitation sessions.

Community Partnership
Identity Forward facilitators bring the Built to Rise framework directly to youth through intentional, relationship‑centered sessions. We create emotionally safe, culturally grounded spaces where young people explore identity, belonging, and real‑world relational skills.
